'Red Heaven' Trippin' Through The Tulips

The Old Days of SL Music

Sonicity, co-owner 2009

CHICAGOLAND
Kara Trapdoor, patron, 2009

I had some fun thinking back to a club that I owned with my old friend co-owner of Chicagoland Shock Soderstrom (no longer in SL but doing well in RL).   What is amazing is all the short promo videos I filmed back then.
Now about 6 years later, it is interesting to look back at the live music scene that passed through our club.  Many of those folks - Gina Stella, AcousticEnergy (James Olmos), Josie Anderton, and Anek Fuchs, etc. who regularly performed there, are still going strong in SL.
Anek 2009
Not all were captured on video.

Chicagoland is long-gone, but the music is going strong.

That's why I do what I do with SL Live Radio - one show, every Sunday noon to 2PM SLT,
a tribute to the SL music scene.  My show - Slow Bake - can be heard via -

So if you want to remember when

and maybe you even frequented Chicagoland, here's the YouTube channel from those early years. https://www.youtube.com/user/ChicagoLandSL/videos

Skye 2015
Others like Skye Galaxy performed maybe once or twice at our club when they first came into SL - and those were great memories as well.  I wish I had them on film.   But it is great Skye came back to SL recently to perform (even if he has to step out again to work around his growing RL popularity) - he's even more accomplished than before.   I think his return and that of some early SL performers is what got me thinking about those early days.  Second Life, as for most of us aging avatars, is a big part of our 'real' memories.

Today is Skye's last show for a while because he is popping out of the rabbit hole to complete some RL music projects.  We'll miss him in-world, but be looking for him in real life.

Top Picks for this Sunday!

Spring into Slow Bake

Sunday brings Slow Bake once again, and a good way to wrap up a week of the great music from SL Music from our very own virtual (and RL musicians).

Join me today to celebrate new beginnings - with Spring just around the bend....

This Friday is the First Day of Spring.

From the Farmer's Almanac:  'The March equinox happens at the same moment across the world but is converted to local time. In 2015, it falls on March 20 at 6:45 P.M. EDT, 5:45 P.M. CDT, 4:45 P.M. MDT, and 3:45 P.M. PDT, for example.'
